The
CCIS Writing Center offers mentoring for students who need
extra help writing for media, particularly
news and public relations.
Mentoring
sessions are held in Room 301, the journalism department photo lab. To find the lab, cross the third-floor bridge to the older section of the building. Room 301 is across the hall from the elevator. Students may seek help on a walk-in basis during these hours.
Mentors also assist instructors
during lab sessions of the JN 311 News Writing and Reporting
class.
The Center is staffed
by graduate and senior/junior undergraduate students in the College
who have demonstrated strong writing ability and who have professional
media or teaching experience.
Thanks to the
Alabama Press Association Journalism Foundation for providing
funds for mentors' stipends.
